![]() Cloudburst won a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Classical Album in 2001. The song features a section where the choir sings without any words, only vocal sounds to mimic the sound of a thunderstorm. Paz wrote the original poem in Spanish, and it was later translated into English by Muriel Rukeyser. The lyrics of the song were written by Octavio Paz, a Mexican poet and Nobel laureate. ![]() Whitacre wrote Cloudburst while living in Los Angeles and feeling homesick for rain. The finger snaps in the song are meant to sound like raindrops falling on pavement. The choir is accompanied by a piano, two percussionists, and a group of water-tuned crystal glasses. The song was inspired by a real cloudburst that Whitacre witnessed during a trip to the Grand Canyon. The use of finger snaps and body percussion is particularly effective in creating a sense of rain falling, and the lyrics speak to the importance of dreaming and singing as ways to connect with our past, present, and future. Overall, Cloudburst is a powerful and moving song that captures the beauty, energy, and complexity of a rainstorm. The song ends with an invitation to return to where we began, to the thread that weaves us all together. The lyrics speak to the power of song and the importance of remembering the words of our ancestors, of the earth, and of our bodies. The dreams are of rivers finding their way and of suns dreaming up their own worlds. The second verse brings a sense of hope, as the rain wakes up and the narrator encourages the audience to dream actively and sing loudly. ![]() The answer is no, only blood, dust, and the marks left by bare feet on thorns. ![]() The tone then shifts to a darker and more urgent mood, as the narrator asks the barren and dry earth if it has any water left. The first verse describes the rain as "eyes of water," with shades of blue and green swirling together like the sun and creating light that bursts like a pomegranate. The song is performed by a choir and features musical elements that mimic the sounds of rain, including finger snaps and body percussion. The lyrics of Eric Whitacre's Cloudburst bring to life the energy and beauty of a powerful rainstorm. ![]() When research began, people found the answer to this problem in inclusive classrooms. ![]() This problem is that many countries have segregated children with special needs from typical children, making them less able to integrate into society when they reach adulthood. But as many countries focus on educating children with special needs, they are discovering an even more significant pitfall. Special populations appear in the public eye with increasing frequency, so their education and problems are receiving increasing attention in many countries. We review research that supports this proposition and explore implications for teacher professional learning, educational policy, and further research. We propose that shifting from empathy-based stress to compassionate responding may be one such competency to help teachers’ respond effectively to their students’ needs while protecting their own wellbeing. Recent findings in neuroscience and education research are applied to support teachers’ development of these competencies. This narrative review explores the issue of empathy-based stress within the context of the prosocial classroom model which proposes that teachers’ social and emotional competence and well-being are key to their ability to create and maintain supportive learning environments critical to student academic and behavioral outcomes. Furthermore, while working to support students exposed to trauma and adversity, teachers may experience empathy-based stress exacerbating already high levels of stress among them. However, despite the large number of students impacted by trauma and adversity, teachers are often not well prepared to provide trauma-sensitive support. ![]() ![]() Teachers play a critical role in preparing our children and adolescents for a successful future. ![]() ![]() ![]() Grenade Launcher: So many advantages: Long range, AoE, Shred, Blast, great with Boom Blast, no line of sight required Yes, weak against armor, but doesn't matter if you can strip that before. Trump’s team previews aggressive legal strategy But once more, America’s political and legal systems, under a near-constant stress test since he came down the escalator in Trump Tower to launch his campaign in 2015, will be put under enormous pressure that is likely to only deepen the country’s internal estrangement. Trump has denied wrongdoing in all of the cases. In several of these cases, Trump could face even more serious legal problems than in the Stormy Daniels matter, but that case is the only one so far that has yielded an indictment. He’s also being investigated over efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in Georgia, and by a special counsel probing his hoarding of classified documents and conduct in the run-up to January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. Some legal experts, without having seen the still-sealed indictment, have questioned whether a case that appears to revolve around infringements of accounting practices and possible campaign finance violations is sufficiently serious to merit the historical step of indicting an ex-president who is already running again.Īt the same time, it is ultimately Trump’s norm-busting behavior that pushed the country to this somber moment. And however the case turns out, his return to the spotlight in these circumstances is another twist in an exhausting saga featuring a double impeachment, false claims of a stolen election, and a mob attack on the US Congress during an unruly four-year presidency that pushed the nation to the point of exhaustion and deepened its polarization. The criminal indictment takes Trump into unique political territory. Some 94% of Democrats approve of the indictment while 79% of Republicans disapproved. Among independents, 62% approved and 38% disapproved. In a new CNN/SSRS poll released on Monday, however, 60% of Americans approved of the indictment – although about three-quarters of respondents believed politics played at least some role in the decision, including 52% who said it played a major role. According to fundraising numbers that his campaign is touting, Trump is getting a political boost from the attention. ![]() But Trump, using his bond with his most loyal supporters, is claiming the prosecution is a case of naked political persecution from District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, that’s designed to thwart the possibility of a presidential comeback. In between rounds of golf, Trump considers how best to use indictment as 2024 rallying cryįor many Americans who disdain Trump and his riotous single term, the case could be a sign that, finally, he is being called to account for his rule-crushing behavior and that everyone – even former presidents – are equal under the law. Technically, there’s nothing wrong with saying something like “Please find the attached document.” Although find can mean to come upon something by searching for it (hence the smart-alec lawyer’s assertion that my résumé must be lost), find also means to recognize or discover that something is present. Is please find attached grammatically correct? Your letters will be much clearer and more engaging without them. They’re high-sounding but low-performing. You see canned phrases like enclosed please find and as per all the time in letters. Is “please find attached” essential legal language?Īttached please find reads like legalese, so you might wonder whether it’s necessary in a legal document. It is instead a set phrase in imperative form that does a not-very-requesty job. This underscores that please find attached is not much of a request at all. In fact, it would be just plain weird to put this into another request form like Could you please find the document attached? or I would be very grateful if you would find the document attached. There’s no need to boss around the other person to go about finding things, since the sentence is just communicating “I have attached a document for you”. The popular English language blog, Separated by a Common Language, puts it this way: It’s also a bit redundant to say that something is attached and then direct the recipient to please find it.Īnother oddity with attached please find is that it’s a command when it doesn’t need to be. Please find attached is wordy jargon at its worst. Even in formal correspondence, your goal should be to communicate in a straightforward, conversational way, free of wordiness or jargon.
